CITY’SCAPE. Landscape design as a strategy in climate change for urban and social resilience: the winners

Announced the winnersout of 242 applications – of the International “CITY’SCAPE Award 2024” promoted by the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators and organized by PAYSAGE, Promotion and Development for Landscape Architecture, aimed at highlighting best practices in the most diverse fields of Landscape Architecture.

The CITY’SCAPE Award 2024 is confirmed to be of great interest, also witnessed by the international participation represented by 17 % of participants from the NETHERLANDS, CHINA, PORTUGAL, SPAIN, FRANCE, MALTA, GREAT BRITAIN, CROATIA, TURKEY, CZECH REPUBLIC, RUSSIA and ISRAEL. Many Italian projects, accounting for 83 % of the total, distributed throughout the country.

For the CITY LANDSCAPE A0 category – Urban forestation and climate change resilience projects:

  • the FIRST PRIZE was awarded to the project PHASE SHIFTS PARK (CENTRAL PARK) in TAIWAN presented by Mosbach Paysagistes studio, with the team consisting of Catherine Mosbach, Philippe Rahm Architect + Ricky Liu Architect.

For Category A1 THE AWARD CATEGORY A1 – Landscape Redevelopment of Urban Spaces and Fringe Areas the FIRST EX-AEQUO AWARD was given to the projects:

  • RAMBLA DE LA GIRADA IN VILAFRANCA DEL PENEDÈS presented by Batlleiroig Arquitectura with the team consisting of. Enric Batlle Durany, Joan Roig i Duran, Iván Sánchez Fabra, Joan Batlle Blay – Architect.
  • PIAZZA CASTELLO MILANO AND VIA BELTRAMI with the working group consisting of: Project by: Arch. Emanuele Genuizzi, Arch. Vincenzo Strambio, Arch. Giovanni Banal and Arch. Enrico Ragazzo; MUNICIPALITY OF MILAN – Technical Direction and Urban Furnishings: RUP Arch. Loredana Brambilla, Person in charge of the procedure Alfredo Bonfanti – Archaeological Superintendence of Milan; ATI: Giussani Emilio S.r.l., Peverelli Srl, DueEffe Srl, ArcheoTrento di Emanuele Bartolini.

In category D – INTERVENTIONS ON PARKS AND GARDENS OF HISTORICAL, ARTISTIC OR LANDSCAPE INTEREST, the FIRST EX-AEQUO PRIZE was won by the projects:

  • THE PLAN FOR THE CONSERVATION AND SCHEDULED MANAGEMENT OF THE PARCO REALE DELLA REGGIA DI CASERTA presented by Arch. Tiziana Maffei – Design Coordination and Scientific Direction with the design group consisting of Arch. Patrizia Pulcini, Dr. Paola Viola
  • RESTORE, REGENERATE, TAKING CARE OF THE LANDSCAPE OF POMPEI presented by Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, Project by Arch. Paolo Mighetto Architectural Officer MINISTRY OF CULTURE – ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK OF POMPEI and Dr. Maurizio Bartolini – Head of Green Care Area of the Park of Pompei.

In category G – CITY SPORT&PLAY: sports, play and leisure areas in the landscape the FIRST PRIZE was awarded to the project:

  • RCF ARENA REGGIO EMILIA presented by IOTTI + PAVARANI, TASSONI, STUDIO LSA with the design team composed by Paolo Iotti, Marco Pavarani, Guido Tassoni, Lauro Sacchetti.

In category H – TOURISM LANDSCAPE: landscape design for tourism the FIRST PRIZE was awarded to the project:

  • to the project PARCO MARITTIMO DI RAVENNA presented by Paisà Architettura del Paesaggio with the design group consisting of AGENCE TER, Studio Tassinari Associati Ingegneria, Studio M.

In category L – HI-TECH LANDSCAPE: Green Roof, Hanging Green, Vegetable Roofs and Green Walls the FIRST PRIZE was awarded to the project:

  • BASECAMP presented by Kragh Berglund landscape architecture and urban design with the design team consisting of Architectural Designers Lars Gitz Architects.
